Her early playing career saw her represent clubs across Canada, the United States, and Norway, competing consistently at the top levels of women’s football. Known for her tactical awareness and leadership on the pitch, she embodied the qualities that would later define her career in coaching.

Following retirement from international football, Rhian transitioned seamlessly into coaching roles that highlighted her strategic mind and commitment to developing others. She worked as an Assistant Coach with Canadian Soccer, led the Vancouver Whitecaps women’s programme, and coached Canadian youth national teams before joining the staff of Team GB at the Tokyo Olympics. Later, she took charge of the Portland Thorns, and in 2024 stepped into her current role as Head Coach of the Welsh women’s team. Her leadership helped Wales qualify for the UEFA Women’s Euro 2025 for the very first time, a historic milestone for the nation. Alongside her coaching responsibilities, her achievements have been recognised through induction into the Canada Soccer Hall of Fame, as well as honours such as three Pan American Games medals and five Quebec Player of the Year awards.
