Dom’s career began at just 16 when he joined the Royal Marine Commandos following a £10 bet, quickly proving his resilience and determination. He served in complex and high-risk environments, including the Falklands War, Central America and the Balkans, before transferring to the British Army where he rose through the ranks to Major. Following his military career, Dom continued operating in life-threatening environments, leading hostage rescues and high-profile extractions. His work included the liberation of individuals kidnapped by Somali pirates and the rescue of the Mogadishu Six. He later worked extensively across Sub-Saharan Africa as a Security Risk Manager, advising governments and organisations on crisis management, resilience and operational strategy. Dom also risked his life to save dozens during the Westgate Shopping Mall terrorist attack and played a key role in the Dusit Hotel rescue in Nairobi.
In recognition of his extraordinary bravery, Dom was awarded the George Cross, the UK’s highest civilian award for courage, becoming the first civilian recipient in over 40 years. He had previously received the Queen’s Gallantry Medal for his military service, making him the only individual to hold both honours.
