Karun Chandhok

Karun Chandhok is a former Formula 1 driver, broadcaster, and speaker known for his deep insights into elite motorsport and the mindset required to operate at the highest levels. With experience spanning F1, Formula E, endurance racing, and television commentary, Karun brings a unique blend of technical expertise, first-hand racing knowledge, and engaging storytelling. Karun began his racing career in India, winning the Indian National Racing Championship in 2000 with seven wins from ten starts. A year later, he became Formula 2000 Asia Champion, quickly earning a reputation as one of India’s most promising talents. He progressed through the European racing ladder and became a GP2 race winner with victories at Spa and Hockenheim, competing alongside drivers who would go on to become Formula 1 world champions. In 2010, Karun fulfilled a lifelong dream by becoming one of only two Indian drivers to race in Formula 1, debuting with Hispania Racing and later joining Team Lotus as a Reserve Driver.

Following his racing career, Karun expanded into broadcasting and became a respected voice in the sport. In 2018, he joined Channel 4’s F1 team as their Lead Analyst, known for his clear, insightful breakdowns of on-track action. He also competed in the inaugural season of Formula E with Mahindra Racing, represented India in the FIA World Endurance Championship, and raced in the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Beyond the track, Karun now serves on the FIA’s Equality, Diversity & Inclusion Committee and joined the Motorsport UK Board in 2020, using his platform to advocate for representation and change in motorsport.
